Marcus’ 4 a.m. Monday forecast
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — High pressure is building a “Big Bubble” over Indiana, and it’s parking itself here through the weekend. That means six straight days of sunshine and pleasant temperatures.
TODAY:
Plenty of sunshine with highs in the mid to
upper 60s. Light northwest winds at 5 to 10 mph.
TONIGHT:
Clear skies and light winds will let temperatures drop fast. Lows in the low to mid 40s for Indianapolis.
FROST WATCH for northeast areas: If you’re in these areas, cover sensitive plants before sunset – this would be mainly in low lying areas, and well protected from any breeze. Most areas will likely stay in the lower 40s.
TUESDAY:
Sunny and warmer. Highs in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees.
Morning frost threat ends by 8 a.m. for northeast counties.
WEDNESDAY – FRIDAY:
Dry pattern continues with temperatures climbing into the low 70s each afternoon. Morning lows in the mid to upper 40s.
FIRE WEATHER CONCERNS:
Tuesday through Friday will feature increasingly dangerous conditions for outdoor burning:
Relative humidity dropping to 30 percent (or lower) each afternoon
Light northwest winds 10-15 mph providing oxygen for any fire starts
Bone-dry vegetation from the extended dry spell
Bottom line: Avoid outdoor burning this week.
THE WEEKEND:
High pressure holds through Saturday with continued dry weather. Highs in the upper 60s to low 70s.
A pattern shift is possible by Sunday or early next week. That could finally bring some rain chances back into the forecast.
