MIDDLESEX COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Human remains were found in Middlesex County Sunday evening as search efforts remain underway for a 61-year-old man who went missing two weeks ago. According to the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office, deputies found what are believed to be human remains when they res ponded to a citizen report earlier Sunday, Oct. 4. The sheriff's office said recovery efforts are underway, and that the remains will be examined for identification and determination of the cause of death. Police did not confirm the identity of the deceased. However, the sheriff's office said it has notified the family of Nicholas Dieter, a 61-year-old man who went missing last month. Dieter was last seen on Sept. 20, overnight into Sept. 21. He is described as a white man who stands at 5 feet 5 inches tall and does not drive. "As we await additional information, we ask our community to please be respectful of Mr. Dieter, his family and loved ones, and refrain from speculation," the sheriff's office wrote.
