The New York Liberty are on the cusp of another trip to the WNBA Finals. The No. 8-seeded Liberty will square off against the No. 4 Atlanta Dream in the semifinals of the 2026 WNBA playoffs with a spot in the Finals up for grabs. New York advanced to the semifinals after a historic first-round upset of the top-seeded Minnesota Lynx, becoming the league’s first No. 8 seed to ever eliminate a No. 1 seed. In a rematch of the 2024 Finals, the Liberty recorded a pair of 16-point wins over the Lynx. Breanna Stewart powered a Game 1 win on the road with 34 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists, before Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones combined for 60 points in the series clincher. The Liberty now have to get past the Dream in order to make a third Finals appearance in four years. Atlanta swept the No. 5 Washington Mystics with two double-digit victories to reach the semis for the first time since 2018. Defensive Player of the Year Angel Reese and the Dream handed the Liberty their two most recent losses. Atlanta closed out the regular season with back-to-back double-digit victories in Brooklyn. The Liberty won the other head-to-head matchup away from Barclays Center back in June. So, will the Liberty pick up where they left off against Minnesota?
