RICHMOND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) –– An 83-year-old inmate died after being found unresponsive at Haynesville Correctional Center in Richmond County in late September. According to a spokesperson with the Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC), the Office of Law Enforcement Services is investigat ing after an inmate was found unresponsive the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Haynesville Correctional Center in Richmond County. Medical staff and emergency medical services were notified and began life-saving procedures, but the inmate died at 6:35 am. that day, according to VADOC. "No correctional officers were involved in the incident leading to the individual’s death, and no staff was injured," the spokesperson said.
