COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — K-9 Tali is officially part of the ranks of the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO).   The Belgian Malinois and Sgt. Petyon Way began patrolling together Tuesday, after completing an eight-week training course in North Carolina.   “I am happy to see Sgt. Way an d K-9 Tali together,” Sheriff Anthony Dennis said. “They join the rest of our deputies who have devoted themselves to serving Sumter County and are an integral part of the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.”    The SCSO says the 1 1/2-year-old K-9 is certified in tracking, apprehension, narcotics detection, building clearing and handler protection.   Way’s previous K-9 partner, Tara, recently retired and lives with Way’s family.
