‘Wave of Light’ event to help women cope with pregnancy, infant loss
Sep 30, 2026
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — October is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. A special guest joined 8News at 9 on Wednesday to share about a business helping women cope with loss ahead of an event on Remembrance Day.
8News anchors Delaney Hall and Madison Moore spoke with Michelle Brown,
creator of Yellow Butterfly Box, about how the initiative helps women and families experiencing pregnancy or infant loss by providing "hope boxes."
"I always want to remind people that even at your lowest moment, especially in experiencing grief, you're loved," Brown said. "You may not feel it, you may not feel like this is the time, but it's really important to hear 'You're loved' and to see it."
Folks can also attend the Wave of Light event on Oct. 15, at 6 p.m. at the Brown House Candle Company. Candle lighting will begin at 7 p.m. For more information, visit Yellow Butterfly Box.
