(File Photo by Elijah Herbel/KFOR News)WASHINGTON–(KFOR Sept. 29)–Next Monday evening, Oct. 5, President Trump will speak in Grand Island at a Midterm Election Rally at the Nebraska State Fairgrounds’ Pinnacle B ank Expo Center. According to the White House, Trump is set to speak at 6pm.  Doors open at 2:30 p.m. and the event begins at 4:30 p.m. Guests must RSVP to attend the event. Trump’s stop in Nebraska comes at a critical point for the midterm elections, and both U.S. Sen. Pete Ricketts and Gov. Jim Pillen are in tight races in traditionally ruby red Nebraska.  Ricketts has held the seat since he was appointed by Gov. Jim Pillen in 2023, after former Sen. Ben Sasse stepped down. He won the seat in 2024 to finish out Sasse’s term, and is now running for his first full term. Pillen won the governorship in 2022 and is running for a second term.  Both are facing tough challenges, with Ricketts facing independent candidate Dan Osborn, while Pillen is being challenged by Democrat and former Fremont State Senator Lynne Walz. ...read more read less
