Indiana residents who plan to vote in the November general election have less than a week to make sure they are registered. The deadline to register to vote or update an existing voter registration for Indiana’s November 3, 2026, General Election is Monday, October 5. Online voter registrat ion applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. that day, while mailed applications must be postmarked by October 5. In-person registration is generally due by the close of business at the appropriate voter registration office. Residents can register online through IndianaVoters.in.gov. The website can also be used to check an existing registration, update voter information, find a polling place and see who will appear on an upcoming ballot. To register online, Indiana residents must have a valid Indiana driver’s license or Indiana state-issued identification card. Those registering by mail or in person can complete an approved voter registration form and return it to their county voter registration office or the Indiana Election Division. To be eligible to vote in Indiana, a person must be a U.S. citizen and an Indiana resident, be at least 18 years old by the November 3 General Election, have lived in the precinct where they intend to vote for at least 30 days before the election, and not currently be imprisoned following conviction of a crime. Residents who believe they are already registered should consider checking their information before the deadline, particularly if they have recently moved or changed their name. The registration deadline comes one day before early in-person voting begins in Indiana. Beginning Tuesday, October 6, voters may cast an absentee ballot in person at their circuit court clerk’s office or designated satellite voting locations. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
