A pair of Bluetooth headphones helped apprehend a suspected car thief who drove a stolen vehicle from Kimball Junction to Murray last week. Summit County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported car theft in Kimball Junction, according to a departmental shift report. The car’s owner left a pair of Bluetooth headphones with tracking capabilities inside the vehicle and told deputies the headphones were in Murray. The Murray City Police Department located the car and took the alleged thief into custody after a brief foot pursuit. The individual who reportedly stole the car also used the owner’s credit cards at a convenience store. Deputies traveled to Murray and transported the individual to the Summit County Jail. The Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple other calls between Monday, Sept. 21, and Sunday, Sept. 27, including a bear sighting in Kamas and a suspected DUI. Tuesday, Sept. 22 Deputies assisted the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources in relocating a black bear in Kamas. Deputies stopped a car on S.R. 224 after receiving a complaint about the driver’s behavior and a possible road rage incident. The driver performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was booked into the Summit County Jail for a suspected DUI.
