INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO) — Indiana’s unemployment rate remained at 3.3% in August, below the national unemployment rate of 4.1%, according to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. The state’s unemployment rate was unchanged from July and June. It is down from 3.7% in August 2025. I ndiana’s August rate was tied with Ohio, while neighboring Illinois and Kentucky each recorded rates of 4.7% and Michigan stood at 5%. Indiana’s labor force participation rate stood at 63% in August, compared with the national rate of 61.6%. The state had a total labor force of about 3.49 million people. The state also added 4,000 private-sector jobs from July to August, bringing total private employment to about 2.84 million.
