PORT VINCENT mdash; State transportation crews are beginning work on a $1.6 million realignment project of La. 16 in Livingston Parish on Monday.nbsp;The project covers one-third of a mile of highway near Gourdon Lane used by about 6,000 vehicles daily, Louisiana Department of Transportation and De velopment officials said.nbsp;Crews will realign the roadway to make the existing curve more gradual, officials said.Work will be performed mainly in the evening, with any lane closures needed for construction occurring outside the hours of 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Crews may perform work alongside the roadway during the day, officials added.Access to Gourdon Lane and nearby properties will be maintained, with temporary stone placed as needed if construction disturbs an entrance.The project, which uses federal Highway Safety Improvement Program funding, is expected to be finished by the end of November.nbsp;Permalink| Comments ...read more read less
