Fatal hit-and-run crash on west side INDIANAPOLIS —  An adult male has been arrested after a fatal hit-and-run crash Saturday night on the city’s near west side, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. Officers were dispatched at 8:30 p.m. to the 3300 block of W. 16t h St., a BP gas station near N. Tibbs Ave., on a report of a crash. IMPD says a vehicle was speeding southbound on N. Tibbs Ave. when it struck another vehicle, lost control, and drove through the gas station parking lot. The vehicle then struck a woman who was walking in the lot. The woman, whose identity has not been released, died at the scene. The driver of the speeding vehicle fled on foot immediately following the crash. The driver of the second vehicle involved in the initial collision was not injured and remained at the scene to cooperate with the investigation. This is a developing story. ...read more read less
