The Farmersville community is grieving after a high school student died in a car accident Friday afternoon. According to Farmersville ISD, Melody Newhouse was a sophomore at Farmersville High School at the time of her passing. “Melody brought creativity, curiosity, and hope for the future to her time at Farmersville High School. She found success in several honors courses and enjoyed writing, origami, and exploring further interests in engineering and Spanish. She also dreamed of starting a YouTube channel. Loved by students and staff, Melody will be deeply missed throughout our school community,” Farmersville High School said in a Facebook post. The high school account initially posted about the accident, letting its community know it was aware of the accident that happened after school. At the time of its posting, 6:06 p.m., Farmersville ISD believed the accident involved a former student and current students. Farmersville’s Chief of Police said it was a two-car accident where a female passenger was found dead when officers arrived. The two drivers, a man and woman who both graduated in the past two years, were taken to a nearby hospital and their condition is unknown.
