CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools employee has been arrested after showing signs of impairment while operating a vehicle. Stephen Esposito, 46, was stopped during a safety checkpoint on Idlewild Road near Interstate 485. According to the arrest record, Esposito smelled strongly of alcohol and had red glassy eyes when stopped. Esposito admitted to consuming alcohol and performed poorly on the standardized field sobriety test. The result of the breath test read .11. Esposito was charged with driving while impaired and has been given a $2,500 unsecured bond. He holds the role of Chief of Strategic Communication and Engagement at CMS.
