MONROE, N.C. – The Monroe Police Department has made an arrest after a months-long investigation that yielded pounds of drugs, several firearms and thousands of dollars worth of cash. The department’s Aggressive Criminal Enforcement have been investigating an individual after possible involvem ent in gang-related activity. Detectives linked two homes to suspicious activity. One was located on the 600 block of Carr Street in Monroe and another on Van Eudy Road in Marshville. The Monroe Police Department’s Special Response Team executed search warrants at both locations. An operation that included Homeland Security Investigations, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations Special Response Team and Charlotte–Mecklenburg Police Department Crime Gun Detectives. Investigators seized more than 10 pounds of methamphetamine, one pound of cocaine, approximately one half pound of marijuana, nine firearms and over $15,000 in cash as a result of the searches. The suspect, 31-year-old Eufracio Quizapa–Santillo, was arrested and charged with multiple felony charges. These charges include: Distributing narcotics Possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine Trafficking in methamphetamine Felony conspiracy Trafficking in cocaine Felony possession of marijuana Exposing a child to a controlled substance Monroe Police Chief Rhett Bolen issued a statement about the operation. “If you are bringing illegal narcotics and firearms into our city, you need to find somewhere else to do business,” said Chief Bolen. “I’ve said it before, we are coming for you. Our detectives will put in the work, our officers will follow the evidence, and we will continue working with our law enforcement partners to hold people accountable who choose to bring this kind of activity into our community.” This investigation remains ongoing. ...read more read less
