RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Over $1 million worth of illegal drugs were recovered last week by Virginia State Police (VSP) as part of its crime suppression operations. According to a Sept. 25 report, VSP recovered over 78 pounds of illegal drugs with the help of local and federal agencies throughout Vi rginia between Sept. 16 and Sept. 22. This included 6.6 pounds of cocaine, 8.8 pounds of heroin, 58 pounds of marijuana, 4.3 pounds of THC consumables and 11.5 ounces of methamphetamine. Combined, these drugs could have been sold for an estimated $1,021,658, VSP said. A VSP spokesperson said that typically, the drugs recovered by state police are safely incinerated to destroy them while also avoiding fume inhalation by the public.
