(Jeff Motz/KFOR News)LINCOLN–(KFOR Sept. 25)–The recent audit of the Lancaster County Treasurer’s Office done by State Auditor Mike Foley and his team and released in mid-September, prompted Lancaster County District 3 Board member Matt Schulte to sp eak out about how the $1-billion in accounting errors is unacceptable. Schulte adds these errors have come under the leadership of County Treasurer Rachel Garver and her deputy, Kristen Anderson. While he is not calling for Garver or Anderson to resign, Schulte encourages voters to elect new leadership in November. He announced his support for District County Clerk Candidate Landon Parks and County Treasurer Candidate Jasmine Gibson. Schulte says money should be accounted for correctly and distributed to the right agencies. Garver, who fully cooperated with the audit, said the error Foley refers to was isolated to a semi-annual statement that counted the county’s income twice, showing the county earned nearly $2 billion, when it really earned just under $1 billion.
