A 21-year-old pedestrian was killed Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle on Milwaukees northwest side, police said.The crash happened at 92nd Street and Hampton Avenue, near the southeast corner of Timmerman Airport, around 5:53 a.m. Watch the latest report in the video player below: 21-year-old pedestrian killed in crash at 92nd and Hampton in Milwaukee CountyMilwaukee police said a 34-year-old driver was traveling westbound on W. Hampton Avenue when he struck a 21-year-old pedestrian. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.Police said the driver stayed on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.Investigators have not yet released additional details about what led to the crash.Neighbors in the area said they have long been concerned about traffic along Hampton Avenue.Kim Schilling, who lives nearby, said she often sees drivers speed along the road.From the time I get up to the time I go to sleep, they are speeding up and down the street, Schilling said. There are no speed bumps, no street lights to slow people down. Theres nothing its just a big strip, and everybody races through it.Schilling was on a walk Tuesday morning when she saw police block off the road.Something bad finally happened, Schilling said to herself.According to data from Wisconsin Community Maps, one other person has died, and more than 40 people have been injured in crashes at the intersection over the past 10 years.The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says Community Maps is an interactive statewide database of police-reported crashes.Milwaukee County has also, in the past, identified Hampton Avenue as a Corridor of Concern because of high crash rates and other safety risks.
