SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A man who died in a fishing boat accident beneath the Golden Gate Bridge last week has been identified as a father and employee of one of the Bay Area's biggest tech names. Thirty-five-year-old Daniel Zhengyu Qin of San Jose was one of three people aboard a 25-foot vessel tha t struck rocks on the Marin County side of the bridge last Thursday morning. The vessel was beginning to capsize when San Francisco Police Department Marine Unit officers responded and pulled all three from the water. They were rushed to the hospital where QIN was pronounced deceased. Newsom declares state of emergency as California braces for powerful El Niño A fundraiser set up on behalf of Qin's family identified him as a "beloved software engineer at Apple, a devoted husband, and a loving father to three young children." Qin, according to the fundraiser, leaves behind a wife, an 11-year-old son, and two young daughters, aged 9 and 3. "His sudden passing has left his wife and children facing an unimaginable loss, both emotionally and financially," the fundraiser states. Qin, the fundraiser goes on to say, "was kind, funny, and endlessly generous. He got along effortlessly with his coworkers, his children looked up to him, and his friends adored him." The fundraiser is seeking donations to support his family, go toward funeral costs and memorial expenses, and support day-to-day living costs for his children and family. The two other people who were on the boat with Qin were also transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
