Home prices continue to rise across the Bay Area, even as the housing market typically begins to cool in the fall. The latest Zillow Home Value Index shows home values rose across all nine Bay Area counties in August. San Francisco saw a 1.8% increase, while San Mateo County rose 0.7% and Alam eda County increased 0.1%. Home values in the remaining counties rose by roughly a couple tenths of a percentage point. Coldwell Banker told NBC Bay Area it is not seeing the typical slowdown in fall sales activity that the region has experienced in recent years. The real estate company said there is a significant amount of cash in the market, in part because of the boom in artificial intelligence. “Even though interest rates have ticked up, those buyers that are mortgage dependent are still coming into the market and they want home ownership,” said Mary Lee Blaylock, president of Coldwell Banker Affiliates. “The American Dream of home ownership is steadfast and consistent and remains intact no matter what.” Coldwell Banker said it cannot predict where home prices will go from here and noted that real estate conditions can vary significantly from one area to another.
