BATON ROUGE - Baton Rouge is getting a national spotlight as On Patrol: Live co-host and analyst Sgt. Sean ldquo;Sticksrdquo; Larkin hit the streets alongside Baton Rouge Police officers.Larkin, a retired Tulsa police lieutenant, has spent years giving viewers an inside look at police work across t he country. This time, hersquo;ll be experiencing Baton Rouge from the passenger seat of a patrol car.The showrsquo;s arrival in Baton Rouge was months in the making. Last year, the East Baton Rouge Metro Council approved a contract allowing BRPD to partner with the production company behind On Patrol: Live, bringing the cameras and national audience to the department.The partnership means viewers can now watch Baton Rouge officers respond to calls in real time mdash; including BRPD Sgt. Jordan Lear, who has already been featured on the show.ldquo;On Patrol: Live is exactly that. It is a live police show that is three hours every Friday and Saturday night," Larkin said. "The viewer can sit at home on the couch and basically do a ride-along."This weekend, Larkin will join Lear for that ride-along. But before getting into the patrol car, Lear gave Larkin a taste of Louisiana away from the job.The two went gator hunting, something Larkin said was a first for him. The experience resulted in the pair catching a massive alligator.Larkin also got a taste of another Louisiana tradition mdash; fried alligator and beignets. He even got the chance to step into the kitchen and make the pillowy treats himself.ldquo;Not only did I get to eat them, they took me in the kitchen and let me make them," Larkin said. "The whole process of putting the powdered sugar on it."But while Larkin has enjoyed seeing Baton Rouge from a different perspective, he says the main goal of On Patrol: Live is to give viewers an unfiltered look at what police officers encounter on the job.ldquo;We're not there to be a cheerleader for the police.
