INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) The Fever’s long-awaited return to Gainbridge Fieldhouse for the FIBA World Cup games was spoiled by the Washington Mystics in a 93-77 loss. The Mystics snapped Indiana’s three-game win streak that had been in place before the three-week-long break for the FIBA games. In the loss, the new record-holder for WNBA single-season points, Kelsey Mitchell, scored 22 points on 8-of-20 shooting. Caitlin Clark added a team-high 25 points with five assists, but shot just 6-of-20 from the field in the loss. As a team, the Fever shot just 37 percent overall. Indiana’s defense allowed Washington to shoot 57 percent as a team while allowing 27 assists. Kiki Iriafen led the Mystics offense with 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting. Fever forward Aliyah Boston chipped in seven points, six rebounds and five assists in Indiana’s 16-point loss. The Fever, having already clinched a playoff spot, are now 27-15 on the season with two regular-season games to go.
