The Navigators have never started a season with four-straight wins, but di d that Friday night following a second half comeback in defeating Omaha Westview 35-24 at Union Bank Stadium. North Star’s impact statement came from the very first play of scrimmage, when quarterback Eli Schafer found Kobe Allen on an 80-yard touchdown pass just 11 seconds into the game.  But the Gators struggled the rest of the half because of penalties, dropped passes and simply having no rhythm in the offense. That allowed Westview to take advantage, where quarterback Scott Miner II found Kingston Moore on a couple of touchdown passes for 25 and 23-yards respectively  that saw the Wolverines take a 17-7 lead at halftime, which followed a 45-minute delay with 8:52 to play in the second quarter. In the second half, North Star looked more focused on offense and capitalized on defense.  Following a three-and-out by Westview, the Gators took advantage of three-straight penalties committed by the Wolverines that total for 35-yards.  It later set up a 21-yard touchdown pass from Schafer to Braylon Kelley with 5:30 to play in the third quarter and a botched point after attempt resulted in a two-point conversion from kicker Mohamed Sadik that pulled North Star to within two, 17-15. Preston Graff’s 7-yard touchdown run and a 49-yard pass for a scoring strike from Lennox Adams grew the Gator lead to 29-17 in the fourth quarter.  A quick drive saw Miner pass to Moore for a five-yard touchdown and the Wolverines got as close as 29-24. North Star’s final scoring drive came with 2:43 left in the game, when Schafer found Thomas Fleming on a 15-yard touchdown pass. Click the link to listen below.
