Witnesses helped lead to the arrest of a Northwest Side man who allegedly attacked two women and a 16-year-old girl during three separate Avondale incidents Friday night that happened minutes apart, prosecutors said Wednesday.Zayer Picado-Sevilla, 33, is charged with felony counts of aggravated crim inal sexual abuse causing bodily harm and attempted aggravated criminal sexual assault causing bodily harm in connection with the attack of a 39-year-old woman, which happened at 8:05 p.m. in the 3300 block of North Springfield Avenue, prosecutors and police said.At a detention hearing at Leighton Criminal Courthouse Wednesday, prosecutors said Picado-Sevilla is suspected in two similar abuses, including the assault of a 24-year-old woman at 8:18. p.m., just blocks from the Springfield attack, and the attack of a 16-year-old girl at about 8:50 p.m., about a half mile away from the initial assault.Picado-Sevilla was also charged with driving with a never-issued license, a misdemeanor, and citations for obstructing a driver’s view and carrying alcohol as a driver, Chicago police said.A judge Wednesday ordered Picado-Sevilla detained pending trial.Investigators said a link in the cases was a red sedan that Picado-Sevilla was seen driving at the time of the attacks. A witness to the second attack saw Picado-Sevilla and took a photo of his license plate as he fled the scene.Officers ran a FLOCK investigation based on the times of the three incidents and found the vehicle was registered in Picado-Sevilla's name to an address near the assault of the 16-year-old girl, prosecutors said.Picado-Sevilla allegedly said he was “being chased” and was “drunk” during the alleged attacks, prosecutors said.Prosecutors said the 39-year-old woman was on her nightly walk at about 8:05 p.m. when Picado-Sevilla stepped aside to let her pass before grabbing her. He allegedly groped her and tried to kiss her, prosecutors said. Picado-Sevilla knocked the woman to the ground, but a man who heard her screams from a nearby CTA stop ran over, confronted Picado-Sevilla and briefly chased him, prosecutors said.About 13 minutes later, prosecutors said, a 24-year-old woman walking home from a friend’s house was grabbed from behind as Picado-Sevilla forced his hand up her thigh. A neighbor heard the woman’s screams, ran from his apartment, and photographed the car’s license plate, prosecutors said.About 22 minutes later, prosecutors said, a 16-year-old girl was walking home after stopping at an ice cream shop near her school when Picado-Sevilla grabbed her from behind, repeatedly struck her in the groin and dragged her toward his car.The girl collapsed and covered herself, but Picado-Sevilla reportedly continued striking her while pulling her toward the vehicle, prosecutors said.The girl escaped after Picado-Sevilla opened the car door as a passerby drove past, and Picado-Sevilla fled the scene, prosecutors said. The girl suffered abrasions and bruising and called her father.After gathering data from FLOCK cameras, officers pulled Picado-Sevilla over on Monday for a traffic stop and detained him for driving with an open alcohol container and driving without a valid license.Picado-Sevilla’s criminal background includes a 2024 Texas arrest for violating the Alien Inadmissibility Act.
