The Florida State University College of Communication Information has named public relations professional and adjunct professor Lauren Helm, APR, CPRC, as faculty advisor for the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) Capital Student Chapter. The FPRA Capital Student Chapter serves students at Florida State University, Florida AM University, and Tallahassee Community College who are interested in careers in public relations, communications, digital, marketing, and related fields. As faculty advisor, Lauren will support the chapter’s programming and professional development opportunities by connecting students with communications professionals and providing opportunities to gain real-world insight into the communications industry. “Preparing the next generation of communications professionals is also an investment in the future of our business community,” said Lauren. “By connecting students with local professionals, employers, and real-world experiences, we can help build a stronger talent pipeline while giving students a clearer path to careers right here in the Tallahassee community.” Lauren brings more than 20 years of experience in public relations, branding, communications, marketing, and event management. She is the founder of Lauren Helm PR, a Tallahassee-based public relations consultancy serving organizations across healthcare, nonprofits, associations, government, and professional services. In addition to her professional work, Lauren is an adjunct professor at Florida State University’s College of Communication Information, the Immediate Past President of the FPRA – Capital Chapter, and a Leadership Tallahassee board member. She is an Accredited in Public Relations (APR) professional and Certified Public Relations Counselor (CPRC). The FPRA Capital Student Chapter provides students with opportunities to build professional networks, learn from industry practitioners, visit agencies and organizations, volunteer at professional events, and explore careers in communications.
