SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Salesforce's annual Dreamforce is set to open Tuesday morning at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, drawing an estimated 50,000 visitors to the city. Crews are placing the final touches on indoor and outdoor stages as preparations wrap up for the annual event. The conferen ce will feature a major focus on artificial intelligence, with more than 1,800 AI-focused sessions and 115 speakers scheduled throughout the event. In conjunction with the convention, Salesforce is pledging $27 million in new education grants nationwide, including $18 million designated to support public schools in San Francisco and Oakland. Anna Marie Presutti, a representative for San Francisco Travel, described the broad economic impact of the convention beyond the venue floor. “The entire city benefits from a conference like this, not just the hotels, but obviously, as I just mentioned, the restaurants retail will be busy,” Presutti said. “I'm sure Union Square will be packed. So it's just great for the city overall.” For local residents, the large gathering presents logistical disruptions during daily routines. Street closures are currently in effect around the Moscone Center and the San Francisco Police Department will be patrolling the area throughout the week. “We have to make sure we know what time to leave,” Shannyn, a local resident, said. “We have to leave extra early and then sometimes we'll tell the schools, hey, the conference is in town.
