Sep 12, 2026
LINCOLN–(KFOR Sept. 12)–Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) encourages drivers to plan ahead and allow extra time when traveling to Lincoln for sports events Saturday, September 12. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln hosts Georgia Tech in volleyball at 2 p.m. and Bowling Green in football
at 6 p.m.
Visitors are urged to plan their routes into Lincoln and give themselves an additional 30 minutes to an hour of travel time.
The Nebraska Department of Transportation will temporarily open Exit 401A, I-180 south, at 10 a.m. for westbound traffic from I-80. The exit will close again at halftime of the football game and will continue to reopen for future football pregame traffic only.
Visitors traveling to Lincoln are encouraged to:
Plan ahead and leave early. Allow extra time for increased traffic and congestion.
Check traffic conditions before leaving. Consider alternate routes if traffic is heavy.
Consider parking options. Visitors can reserve pre-paid football parking in the Haymarket and other City-operated garages and lots through parkandgo.org. Visitors requiring all-day parking at a metered stall can use Zone 90 in the Passport Parking app for $15.
Follow traffic control signs and directions. Traffic patterns may change as traffic volumes increase.
Drive safely and remain patient. Watch for pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles, particularly near event venues.
