Marcus’ 4 a.m. Friday forecast INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Seasonable temperatures expected today, but another round of high heat is just around the cornor. TODAY (FRIDAY) Southern counties are dealing with thicker clouds as remnant moisture lingers south of the Ohio River, while areas no rth of Indianapolis are enjoying mainly clear skies to start the day. Expect a mix of sun and clouds today, with an increase in cloud cover for the afternoon hours. High temperatures will top out in the lower 80s this afternoon. TONIGHT Shower and thunderstorm coverage will expand across central Indiana overnight as that moisture continues streaming northward. The best rain chances will be across southern and western portions of the central Indiana.Overnight lows will hold in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees with increasing humidity. TOMORROW (SATURDAY) Showers will be most widespread early Saturday morning, then we’ll see activity gradually diminish from west to east through the late afternoon hours. Don’t cancel outdoor plans, many areas will remain dry through the day. Southerly winds will pump warmer, more humid air back into the region. High temperatures will climb into the mid and upper 80s. SUNDAY Sunday looks dry. Temperatures will be warming up, with highs in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. 7-DAY FORECAST The heat is on for the first half of next week. An upper-level ridge will strengthen and center itself over the mid-south, allowing hot and humid conditions to build across central Indiana. High temperatures will surge into the lower to mid 90s by Tuesday and Wednesday. Rain chances will remain minimal under the ridge. Relief arrives late next week. A cold front currently stalled over the lower Great Lakes will gradually sag south toward the Ohio Valley during the second half of the week. An upper-level wave diving out of the Pacific Northwest will help suppress that ridge and push the front through our area, bringing chances for showers and thunderstorms Thursday and Friday. Temperatures will return to near-seasonal levels in the mid 80s. That front will push southeast of us next weekend, but it will delay the arrival of any early fall-like air.
