(KRON) -- A Milpitas woman is charged with two murders after she allegedly stabbed a woman in a San Jose home, and intentionally ran over a friend with a car, according to police and prosecutors. Anila Baby, 32, is accused of killing 39-year-old Ann Mathew in San Jose, and 35-year-old Anjana Hari i n Milpitas, on the same day. Just before noon on Aug. 28, Hari was walking through Mill Creek Apartments' parking lot when a blue Toyota Highlander SUV ran her over, according to court documents obtained by KRON4. The SUV then struck three parked vehicles and fled the scene. Anila Baby's mugshot was released by the San Jose Police Department. Baby was the driver, and she left her friend behind in the parking lot with fatal head injuries, court documents state. Hari and Baby both lived in Mill Creek Apartments' complex on Dixon Landing Road. A witness told police that, moments before she was run over, Hari walked toward the SUV like she was about to get in. Hari was "smiling and seemed to be friendly with the driver," a police report states. The witness also said, "they did not appear to be arguing or having any type of problem with each other. The victim appeared to be happy. When the victim walked in front of the Toyota, the vehicle suddenly accelerated from a stopped position and struck (Hari)." Officers did not find any brake marks from the SUV's tires at the scene. Family members and friends of Baby and Hari told police that the two women "were good friends." About two hours later, at 1:53 p.m., police officers responded to a residence on Linda Vista Street in San Jose to investigate suspicious circumstances. Ann Mathew, 39, of San Jose, was found inside the home and pronounced deceased. She had been stabbed, the San Jose Police Department said. "Preliminary information revealed the victim and suspect were known to each other," police wrote. Later that day, Milpitas Police Department officers found Baby in her damaged SUV while parked next to a Walgreens store less than a mile from Mill Creek Apartments. When detectives looked into the SUV, Baby was sitting inside with blood on her arms and legs, as well as injuries. "She appeared incoherent and was unable to answer questions," the police report states. She was taken into custody. On Tuesday, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office filed a murder charge against Baby for the San Jose homicide. Prosecutors also charged Baby with murdering Hari.
