The iPhone Duo has an IP68 dust and water resistance rating, beating Samsung and tying Google. Samsung's latest Galaxy Z Fold8 models have an IP48 dust and water resistance rating, which means they aren't able to hold up to dust as well. Google's Pixel 11 Pro Fold also has an IP68 rating. IP 6X for dust means the iPhone Duo is "dust-tight" and no dust is able to get in. The IPX8 rating for water means it is protected from water deeper than 1 meter. Apple says the device can handle a maximum depth of 6 meters for up to 30 minutes. IP68 is the same dust and water resistance rating as other iPhones, and dust matters because it can get into the hinges of foldables and cause damage. Apple warns that water and dust resistance "are not permanent conditions," and resistance can decrease as a result of normal wear. iFixit will likely do a teardown on the iPhone Duo, and we'll see how it holds up to dust. The iPhone Duo has other durability features, including a titanium frame, titanium hinge cover, and 10-layer display.Related Roundup: iPhone FoldTag: SamsungThis article, "iPhone Duo is Dust-Tight With IP68 Rating, Unlike Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold8" first appeared on MacRumors.comDiscuss this article in our forums ...read more read less
