(KRON) -- A car connected to an Amber Alert has been found and a 14-year-old Monterey County girl remains missing, officials announced Tuesday. Diana Galvez Ortega went missing after she was allegedly raped by her own father and gave birth on the side of a rural road in Moss Landing. Detectives sus pect that Sergio Galvez Perez, 38, is hiding his 14-year-old daughter to avoid being arrested for child sex abuse and incest crimes. The newborn baby was found deceased August 1 on the side of Struve Road. Sheriff’s investigators named her "Baby Angelita." Perez and his daughter were last seen on August 4 in Salinas while they were traveling together in a white Nissan Altima without license plates. An Amber Alert was issued on September 6. (Photo: CHP) Monterey County Sheriff’s Office officials announced Tuesday, "The vehicle previously sought in connection with the Amber Alert issued for 14-year-old Diana Galvez Ortega has been located. With assistance from the community, the white Nissan Altima with no license plates was located in Monterey County." Officials continued, "The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office continues to ask the community for assistance in locating Diana Galvez Ortega and her father. Sergio is currently wanted for numerous felony violations involving Diana, in which she is the victim. These allegations are extremely serious and are an important part of why locating Diana and ensuring her safety and well-being remain a priority." Perez and his family live in the Salinas and Castroville area. Anyone who sees the fugitive father, or his missing daughter, is asked to call 911 immediately. MCSO wrote, "Since the Amber Alert was issued, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office has received hundreds of calls, emails, and messages containing information related to this investigation. We recognize that the community has many questions and wants additional information, and we understand that not having those answers can be frustrating. At this time, however, there are details we cannot release without potentially jeopardizing the investigation and our efforts to safely locate Diana." (Photos released by MCSO) The missing girl is described as 4 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 100 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes. Perez is the biological father of both Ortega and Baby Angelita, investigators said, and prosecutors filed felony child molestation charges against him. Earlier this September, Sheriff Tina Nieto said the 14-year-old girl was considered a murder suspect behind Baby Angelita's death, and a victim of "heinous" sexual abuse. "We do not ignore one victim over another victim," Nieto previously told KRON4. The manhunt for Perez, search for a missing at-risk juvenile, and newborn homicide investigation created a highly complex and emotional case, the sheriff explained. An Amber Alert issued Sept. 6, 2026 by the California Highway Patrol. Prosecutors said they have not filed any charges against Ortega, and their priority is to ensure her safety, wellbeing, and access to victim services. The District Attorney's Office wrote, "No child should ever have to endure such horrific circumstances. Children who have experienced abuse can face extraordinary barriers to safety and may be unable to seek help on their own, particularly when they are under the control or influence of an abuser.
