A man accused of stabbing a driver during a dispute on the Blue Route over the weekend was ordered to be held on more than $1 million bail as authorities revealed he had been wanted in a separate armed robbery case for nearly three years. Prosecutors said Marquez has nine felony convictions in his past and had also been wanted by the U.S. Marshals after investigators said he failed to check in while on parole. Police in Delaware County said they had been looking for Marquez for years in connection with an armed robbery at a Royal Farms in Upper Chichester. According to court documents, Marquez threatened to kill store workers during the 2022 robbery before taking off with more than $6,000 in cash. Police said he remained on the loose for three years. Marquez’s latest arrest stems from an encounter Sunday on the Blue Route where investigators said he was driving south in a U-Haul as part of a group of vehicles. Prosecutor Robert George said a dispute developed among the drivers. “The U-Haul was in a caravan of sorts. There was a dispute as to driving patterns of someone else,” George said. The victim told police one of the other drivers cut him off, sparking a chain reaction. Police said Marquez then used the moving van to retaliate against the driver. “Defendant struck the victim’s vehicle, he continued to accelerate the vehicle and then got out of the vehicle, approached the victim inside of his vehicle and began striking him,” George said. Witnesses told Pennsylvania State Police the confrontation did not end there. Police said Marquez returned to the moving van, grabbed a knife and stabbed the victim in the back. Marquez and the people he was traveling with left the scene, police said. The group was later found by police at a gas station in Montgomery County’s Lower Merion Township. Pennsylvania State Police recovered a knife that is being tested for additional evidence. Prosecutors said multiple witnesses called 911 to report what they saw on the Blue Route on Sunday. Marquez will eventually appear before a judge in Delaware County to face charges in connection with the 2022 armed robbery.
