10th annual Bates-Hendricks Street Fest INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Bates-Hendricks Street Fest returns Saturday for its 10th annual celebration, featuring live music, local vendors and a community-driven atmosphere. The 100% volunteer-run event runs from 3 to 8 p.m. at the intersection of Li ncoln and New Jersey streets, just west of Fountain Square and north of Garfield Park. Brandon Mott, president of the Bates-Hendricks Neighborhood Association, said the festival serves as both a community celebration and a fundraiser. The association donates 20% of the proceeds to two local schools. “I think our neighborhood is special,” Mott said. “The atmosphere and the neighbors we have make it a good time for everyone.” The festival will feature approximately 120 local artisans and community vendors, a dozen food vendors and four drink vendors. A dedicated kids’ area will be located at the James A. Garfield School 31 playground. As a tribute to the neighborhood’s floral symbol, organizers are offering free iris bulbs to attendees who want to plant them in their own yards. The 10th anniversary of the street fest coincides with the 30th anniversary of the Bates-Hendricks Neighborhood Association.
