Five men were injured, one seriously, after scaffolding and display screens collapsed during event setup at Summit Skywalker Ranch on Tuesday morning, emergency officials said. Fire crews responded at 11:23 a.m. to the property, located at 3838 Lucas Valley Road, after an initial dispatch reporte d three people trapped under a stage. The site was being prepared for an event when scaffolding and display screens collapsed in the upper campus area for unknown reasons. Three of the five injured men were transported to local hospitals. The most severely injured patient suffered a head injury and was transported “code three”—a response considered “very serious,” according to a battalion chief with information related to the accident. One patient became trapped under LCD screens, prompting firefighters to deploy airbags to lift the collapsed structure. That individual was treated at the scene and released. Multiple agencies responded to the incident, including teams from Marin County Fire, the San Rafael Fire Department and the Novato Fire Department. Sheriff’s deputies did not respond to the scene. All fire department units cleared the area by 1:31 p.m. The cause of the collapse remains under investigation by the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA).
