Two women were killed in a fiery crash in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, over the weekend. The crash occurred on Sunday, Sept. 6, around noon on East Lancaster Avenue near the Downingtown Log House. Police said a woman was driving a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee eastbound on East Lancaster Avenue when s he left the roadway along the westbound side and crashed into a concrete retention wall, causing the vehicle to catch fire. The driver died from her injuries at the scene. Responding Downingtown police officers and a bystander pulled a passenger from the front seat. Medics provided medical care and the passenger was taken to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries. Police have not yet revealed the names of the two victims. East Lancaster Avenue was closed until 3 p.m. Sunday amid the investigation.
