SYRACUSE, Ind. (WRTV) -- Conservation officers are investigating a Friday afternoon drowning in Lake Wawasee in Kosciusko County, according to a Department of Natural Resources press release.At about 2 p.m. Friday, County dispat ch received a 911 call about a person missing who was last seen in the water near the sandbar.Dive teams from DNR, the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Office, the Warsaw Fire Department, the Warsaw Police Department, Indiana State Police and local fire departments responded to the scene and found Brian Conwell, 55, in the water.Turkey Creek Fire and Syracuse EMS personnel performed lifesaving measures on Conwell, but he died at the sceneA preliminary investigation found Conwell was in the water to set mooring augers when he began to struggle.Conservation officers have preliminarily classified the incident as an accidental drowning.
