2 firefighters hurt battling South Philly rowhome fire, officials say

Two firefighters were injured early Saturday as fire crews responded to a rowhome where hoarding conditions hampered efforts to extinguish the flames, according to Philadelphia officials.
The fire broke out at a three-story rowhome along the 1000 block of Wharton Street just before 5:30 a.m. on S
aturday, the Philadelphia Fire Department said.
Officials said crews believe the fire likely started in the basement of the rowhome where firefighters encountered hoarding conditions.
The fire was placed under control around 5:49 a.m., officials reported.
Everyone at the home when the fire started made it out of the property without getting hurt, officials said.
Fire officials did not immediately say how the firefighters were injured but they were hospitalized in stable condition.
Three people who live at the home are now displaced.
Officials also did not immediately detail what may have caused the fire. But, they said an investigation into the incident was ongoing.
