Little effect on need
Sep 05, 2026
If you believe the 5-acre project helps solve Park City’s housing shortage — think again. It’s largely self-serving.
The project’s 88 affordable units are projected to house 144 workers. Yet the updated mix of retail, restaurant, café, childcare, fitness and art space has little effect
on the original projection of 137 jobs created by the project.
In short, the project creates most of the housing demand it claims to solve. It uses up most, if not all, of the community benefit intended for the existing workforce. It delivers only a fraction of the original community benefit of an arts and culture district.
Council members should re-evaluate the large public investment before continuing to call this project a fix for our housing shortage.
