PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- Human remains believed to belong to a missing person were found by a group of people behind Southside Medical Center in Petersburg last week, police say. According to the Petersburg Bureau of Police, the human bones were found behind the hospital and are believed to be the remains of a missing person. The remains were taken to the Medical Examiner's Office in Richmond for positive identification and determination of the manner and cause of death. Detectives continue to work to connect the remains to any missing persons reports in the area. Officials are asking anyone with information to contact police.
