At least 11 businesses in Danville were burglarized early Tuesday morning, leaving owners on edge. Xu Xia, a worker at Hashiya Sushi, came to work Tuesday morning to find the newly opened sushi restaurant had been burglarized. Surveillance video shows three men dressed in hoodies smashing through the front door and going straight to the cash register which fortunately was nearly empty. The burglars smashed into a neighboring Vietnamese restaurant, also going straight for the cash. In the same shopping center, they smashed their way into a nail salon, also Asian owned. “I think they probably thought they probably thought Asians had more cash in the store,so that’s why they target mostly Asian restaurants,” Xia said. Across the street, three more businesses were hit: a Thai restaurant, a Greek restaurant and another sushi spot. On the other side of town, burglars targeted five more businesses, including a hair salon. Stylist Connie Palomino says, surprisingly, the only thing they took was one of the surveillance cameras and some snacks. She speculates all the break-ins worked up an appetite. The burglars also loaded up with liquor at Los Panchos Mexican Restaurant and tried to break the cash register. Thieves also hit a kebab restaurant, a Domino’s and an Indian eatery.
