BATON ROUGE mdash; Louisiana State University fans are split over the legal fight surrounding the Tigers' roster, just days before a sold-out home opener against Clemson at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge.A court hearing took place on Thursday, Sept. 3, to determine whether certain players are eligibl e to take the field. The case centers on whether players who signed a professional contract and were later cut from pro teams can return to play college football, specifically at LSU.The Southeastern Conference has also filed a new lawsuit against LSU, adding another layer to the situation ahead of what is also the first game under new head coach Lane Kiffin.Some students feel that allowing players with any level of NFL experience onto a college roster creates an uneven playing field."I'm not rocking with that. There are too many young athletes, so for there to be NFL players, I feel like it's unjust," LSU student Kamar Adfodi said.Others argue LSU is simply trying to follow the NCAA's fifth-year eligibility rule."The law already says that they get a 5-year, so if they take that away, that's unfair to the players," LSU student Daniel Cox said.LSU student Harrison Golemi questioned why LSU is being singled out."I have no problem with them coming back, whether it's here or anywhere else. Why is LSU getting sued when Ole Miss has [quarterback Trinidad] Chambliss, a 6th-year?"
