The university’s Department of Computer Science will host the first event in its fall Industry Connect Distinguished Lecture series at 4 p.m. in the Envoc Innovation Lab at the Computer Science and Technology Building, 801 N. Oak St. in Hammond. Fabre will present “The Nature of Work in the Age of AI: Prevailing When the Brain Meets the Machine.” The event is free and can be attended in person or virtually through Google Meet. Fabre founded Envoc, a software product accelerator with operations in Baton Rouge and Hammond. The company is known for developing LA Wallet, Louisiana’s digital driver’s license application. Fabre also serves as a member of an International Organization for Standardization working group involved in developing standards for mobile driver’s licenses. His work has included discussions about privacy, digital identity and access to technology, including how digital systems affect people who do not use smartphones.
