9-3-26-The Farmers Behind Labor Day INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Florida’s citrus industry is showing signs of recovery after years of challenges from citrus greening disease and hurricanes. A record $196 million state investment is supporting research, grove rehabilitation, new plantings and ot her efforts to rebuild the industry. Orange production increased 5% this season, according to industry officials. The funding is being used for: Research to combat citrus greening disease Grove rehabilitation programs Field trials for new growing techniques New tree plantings and improved tree stock Consumer marketing campaigns Florida citrus growers have faced significant production challenges in recent years, but continued research and financial support are providing new opportunities to rebuild groves and improve production.
