The Bisciotti Family Foundation has committed up to $3 million to Morgan State University in the form of scholarships and support for 40 students. The renewed investment will support the Ozzie Newsome Scholars Program, which is named in honor of former football player and former Baltimore Ra vens general manager Ozzie Newsome. “Since its inception, the Ozzie Newsome Scholars Program has been about more than financial support,” Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti said. “It honors Ozzie’s legacy by investing in Baltimore students whose talent, determination and character continue to inspire us. We are proud of what these scholars have achieved and confident that Morgan State University will remain an exceptional partner in helping future scholars earn their degrees and impact Baltimore and beyond.” The program has provided scholarships to 80 Maryland HBCU students since 2022, including 20 Morgan students. Among those Morgan students were the university’s first two graduates from the program in May 2025. There are also several scholars who began at other participating Maryland HBCUs and later transferred to Morgan to complete their studies. Spanning 2026 through 2033, the eight-year grant from the Bisciotti Family Foundation will fund scholarships for 10 students in each of the next four incoming classes. Morgan State University will award scholarships of $15,000 annually for up to five years, or as much as $75,000 per Ozzie Newsome Scholar. The $3 million award is the second Morgan has received from the Bisciotti Family Foundation for the Ozzie Newsome Scholars Program. Steve and his wife, Rennee, established the scholarship program in 2021 with a $4 million commitment. At the time, the foundation awarded $1 million to each of Maryland’s four historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) to provide scholarships to Baltimore City school graduates. “This extraordinary, renewed commitment is both an investment in Baltimore’s young people and a powerful affirmation of Morgan’s ability to turn philanthropic trust into student achievement,” said Endia M.
