Expect plenty of sunshine with highs in the lower to middle 90s and afternoon heat index values around 100 degrees. West winds remain light around 5 mph. An isolated shower or thunderstorm is possible during the morning or early afternoon, but most of the day should remain dry. Any storm that develops could produce gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall, although storm coverage is expected to remain limited. TOMORROW NIGHT Clouds gradually increase as thunderstorm chances begin climbing again. An isolated storm may develop late, especially toward Saturday morning. Temperatures fall into the lower 70s with light and variable winds. If a more organized cluster of storms reaches central Indiana, damaging wind gusts and heavy rainfall would be the primary concerns. SATURDAY Saturday becomes more unsettled as a front begins pushing into central Indiana. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible, particularly during the morning and early afternoon, although it should not rain continuously. Some sunshine may break through between storms. Highs reach the upper 80s to around 90 degrees with northeast winds around 5 mph. A few stronger storms could produce damaging winds and torrential rainfall, especially if an organized cluster survives into the area. SATURDAY NIGHT Thunderstorm chances gradually decrease during the evening as cooler and somewhat drier air begins filtering into central Indiana. Expect partly cloudy skies overnight with lows falling into the upper 60s. East winds remain light around 5 mph. SUNDAY A noticeable change arrives behind the front. Expect mostly sunny skies, lower humidity and highs only reaching the middle 80s. Northeast winds remain around 5 mph. After several days of oppressive heat, Sunday should feel considerably more comfortable with very little rain concern. 7 DAY OUTLOOK Thursday and Friday remain the most impactful days of the forecast because of the prolonged heat. Highs stay in the middle to upper 90s Thursday and lower to middle 90s Friday, with high humidity pushing afternoon heat index values to around 100 to 105 degrees. Very warm nighttime temperatures will continue providing little relief. Thunderstorm opportunities become more noticeable Friday night into Saturday as the upper-level pattern changes and a front works into central Indiana. Exactly how widespread storms become remains uncertain, but any organized cluster could bring strong winds and locally heavy rainfall. The front should gradually push southwest through the area Saturday, ending the heat wave and bringing more comfortable conditions for the second half of the weekend. Sunday and Labor Day currently look mostly dry with highs in the middle 80s and noticeably lower humidity. Temperatures begin climbing again Tuesday into Wednesday as warmer air returns, with highs potentially approaching 90 degrees by the middle of next week.
