Two people were killed, and at least five others were injured in a shooting at a downtown Minneapolis apartment building on September 2, including three police officers. Police were called to a high-rise near 15 East Grant Street shortly after 4:30 p.m., CBS Minnesota reported. Officers entered the building after reports of gunfire and encountered a haze or airborne substance that reduced visibility. Authorities said several additional officers experienced effects from the substance during the response. The suspected gunman was later found dead from what authorities described as a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officials said the suspect had been evicted from the building earlier that day. Court records also showed previous allegations involving threats with firearms. Local, state and federal agencies responded to the scene, while the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension joined the investigation. Authorities had not announced a confirmed motive. The three injured officers were expected to recover as investigators continued reviewing what led to the shooting. ...read more read less
