Oklahoma Shakespeare will present William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar Sept. 10-27 in an outdoor production at The Shakespeare Gardens in Oklahoma City. Directed and designed by Oklahoma Shakespeare Executive Artistic Director Tyler Woods, the production explores ambition, loyalty and political power as Rome celebrates Caesar’s triumphant return and a group of conspirators wrestles with whether to stop his rise. “Julius Caesar is a play that moves like a storm,” Woods said. “It’s fast, tense, and full of charged relationships. Our production leans into that energy — the shifting alliances, the public oratory, the private doubts — all unfolding under the Oklahoma sky.” Photo by Lee Brasuell. The outdoor setting will place audiences within the action as alliances shift, political tensions build and Rome descends into chaos following the assassination of Caesar. Woods said The Shakespeare Gardens offer a particularly fitting setting for the production. “Outdoor Shakespeare has a way of making these plays feel alive in a different way,” he said. “The Gardens are our showpiece — a place where tours, weddings, and community events happen year-round — and Julius Caesar fills that space with intensity and beauty.” Julius Caesar runs Sept. 10-27 at The Shakespeare Gardens.
