No Country for Mothers Trina Sargalski, a Miami native, PR professional and mom, is raising a child, navigating aging parents and living with too many tabs open in the brain. You know the meme: “My mind is like my web browser. 19 tabs are open, three are frozen and I have no idea where the music i s coming from.” If you can relate, she is building The Responsible Ones for you. Sept. 2 is the first gathering. Sargalski hosts a screening of “No Country for Mothers” at Coral Gables Congregational United Church of Christ that evening. “No Country for Mothers,” directed by Raeshem Nijhon and produced by Emmy-nominated Culture House Media and Moms First, broke the world record for most producers ever credited on a film. More than 1,000 community screenings across all 50 states have been programmed in one of the largest grassroots documentary rollouts ever attempted in the United States. The film is not currently on Netflix or any streaming platform. The only way to watch it is in community. “I hear from more and more women in midlife that they want to remember who they used to be,” Sargalski said. “I called this project ‘The Responsible Ones’ because it’s about finding community and solutions for women who are juggling a lot, both in their personal and professional lives, and feel like they can’t let anything drop, but also can’t keep going like this. I don’t have all the answers yet, but I know one of the surest paths to peace and joy in my life has been community. So let’s try to close all the tabs for a few hours and get together, eat and drink, watch the film and talk it out.
