Free Living Co., a Park City–based clean-living store at Kimball Junction just around the corner from the Newpark Hotel, has announced it will close the doors to its physical shop on Sept. 12. The store will still operate online and offer local delivery for its most popular products. “If yo u ever stepped inside our little shop once during a visit to Park City or often as a local regular, thank you,” Dana Grinnell said in an email to customers. “That little shop in Park City was an extension of a dream I built by hand (and roughly 400 trips down the ingredient-label rabbit hole). And while the shape may be changing, the mission is not.” Grinnell founded the company in 2023 and opened the brick and mortar in April 2025. She said she plans to focus instead on the teen and young-adult focused skincare line she launched in January, called Live Free Skincare. In a newsletter to customers, Grinnell said she realized that closing the physical store was best for the business. “When people come into the shop, they always look at me with this sad expression — ‘I’m so sorry.’ Like my little dream has come crashing down,” Grinnell wrote. “I always respond with a very upbeat — ‘no this was a conscious decision’ — ‘the skincare line needs my love attention.’ But still there is the undertone in their words and expressions that read ‘this business failed.'” The decision wasn’t an easy one, Grinnell said. As an entrepreneur of eight years, she has learned when to move on and when to pivot, how to take the best shot at success. “I tend to think I have the capacity of a team of 10, which I don’t,” she wrote. “And what really forced me into this wise (?) frame of mind was remembering all the years I coached my sales teams in the corporate world. The #1 thing I always encouraged them to do was trim the fat on busy work long to-do lists and really focus on the 1 objective that could drive the bulk of their sales. And the ones who listened, well, they were the ones who succeeded. So I guess after 49 years of life, I have learned to listen to my own advice.” The store seeks to be a resource for shoppers looking for toxin-free products but who are also wary of navigating which truly meet the standard of being toxin free. “We read the labels so our customers don’t have to,” Grinnell told The Park Record in a previous interview. “We use the Environmental Working Group’s standards and their ingredient lists that are forbidden or restricted, and we make sure that everything fits that criteria, and then we deliver locally to people’s doorsteps in reusable totes.” The store is offering up to 40% off through its closure on Sat., Sept. 12.
