One person died and three were injured after a fishing boat overturned in Echo Reservoir on Sunday. A spokesperson with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office said the department received a 911 call around 11:30 a.m. from someone who reported a fishing boat with four people aboard had overturned a nd started to sink. The caller and other recreators in the area pulled the four boaters from the water and transported them to the shore. However, one of the individuals, a 64-year-old man from Davis County, was pronounced dead at the reservoir. The three other boaters — two adults and one juvenile — were transported via ambulance in stable condition to the hospital. The Sheriff’s Office did not have an update on the severity of their injuries as of Monday morning. The Sheriff’s Office is in the early stages of its investigation into why the boat overturned, with a spokesperson saying no further details are yet available.
